Sometimes there's no place like home. President Obama will spend this weekend flipping some taxpayer paid steaks on his BBQ in Chicago - passing on the long tradition of our President making a tribute at Arlington Cemetery. I guess if he was forced then he'd go. Maybe he feels he has enough political capital to burn. Perhaps he should check the polls. He's down as low as 42 percent in some polls but heck it could be worse. Maybe he does need some time off I mean, he's been busy in recent days calling citizens of Arizona racists, dragging the President of Mexico into Congress to chide us on how wrong we are with our laws (like Mexico has got it's act together), getting union thugs to scare the public by demonstrating on people's lawns.

I bet those steaks are yummy. Don't you worry about the gulf oil disaster either. These problems tend to fix themselves. Remember to blame Bush er, BP. It's hard to keep these things straight sometimes. Enjoy a beer or two as well but remember, voters’ memories run long and the drive-by-media can only cover for you so much.

Well I don't have any. I was hoping you had some to spare. After all, the headlines just don't look that good folks. The European Union is in big trouble with Greece, soon Spain and Portugal. Money from the U.S. will help the IMF hold off the dogs for a little while but the writing is on the wall. California and a handful of other states are essentially bankrupt. Obama spends money like a drunken sailor and the unions have incredible power right now and it's getting worse. Our debt is growing at an outstanding rate, oil has reached the beaches in our southern states and the stock market is in the tank. Terrorists are a constant threat at home and abroad and oh ya, unemployment is at %9.9 and climbing. Our government is printing money like never before and the President is attacking the citizens of Arizona for defending it's borders and those are just the big headlines to name a few. We all know there's a bomb in the room but we keep pretending we don't hear the ticking. So here is my challenge - can someone give us some good news? I'm not talking about the fluffy stuff either. Legitimate good news please.

Well look who's back. Persistent problem child Fannie Mae has come back to the table asking for just a little more. Please sir, may I have $8.4 Billion? I tell you this kid's got an appetite.

Fannie Mae bled through $13.1 Billion last quarter alone - that's right, last quarter alone. But let's look at the bright side, it's less than the $16.3 Billion it lost in the previous quarter. Whew!

At some point even the most loving parents, that being the U.S. taxpayers, might have to decide on perhaps, well, just maybe, casting this problem child out into the cold.

How did the Times Square (attempted) Bomber get through airport security? Yes Grandma Turner had her pickled beets confiscated, 94 year old Great Grandpa Edward Wilson had the cuffs on his pants thoroughly examined and 7 year old Alice Dougan had some explaining to do but Faisal Shahzad got through with a ticket he purchased with cash at the last minute. How is that even possible? Mr. Shahzad was no rocket scientist, heck he wasn't even average. Is it that hard to set a clock? The investigators picked up his sent right away because Faisal never really made any attempt to hide.

Now I don't want to blame the authorities for this one. Yes, some people did screw up and no system will ever be perfect. But just what is Obama's strategy here? You can't just hope that the clock is set wrong. You can't just wish that the underwear bomber can't light a match. Mr. President, stop apologizing, stop bowing, stop campaigning, stop blaming everyone else, stop trying to shame the citizens of Arizona and start working on the real problems. That's your job.


In the 3 days before and after the attempted bombing over 100000 people were screened at our airports but the one man who should have been stopped was let through - while being on the No Fly List. At least he was smart enough not to carry Grandma Turner's beets on board - then he really would have been in trouble.

When Mayor Bloomberg, in an interview with Katie Couric expressed that he felt the failed NY City terrorist, who hadn't been found yet, could possibly be an angry local man angry with obamacare I thought to myself just how quickly the Democrats look for villains instead of solutions. The Democratic Blame Machine is well oiled, well maintained and well financed. Now that it's been discovered he's another Muslim fanatic the Machine will move on to another target with the mainstream media at it's side. Nothing to see here, move on.

Don't buy Toyotas. We're going to fine them out of existence. Buy GM, buy Chrysler and support the unions. Blast the evil capitalist insurance companies and pass Obamacare. Attack the wall street fat cat bonuses and get the Dodd bill passed. The Tea Party people are very scary. Let's not even get started on British Petroleum. The Machine's agenda works best when they can point the finger and say "there he is - the villain."

After I heard the new (government approved) General Motors commercial on the air I got a strange taste in my mouth. I think it was anger mixed with vomit. I couldn't believe it. Here is a quote from the commercial "To make this a company all Americans can be proud of again, that's why I'm hear to announce that we've repaid our government loan in full, with interest.". In full with interest huh? Now why hasn't the media jumped all over this lie? Why hasn't CBS told the public that GM paid he TARP loan off from another TARP account? Surely NBC ran the story right? No. Where is ABC on this? Could you imagine if this had happened during the Bush presidency?

So how to do you payback a loan when you've lost 4 billion dollars in the last quarter? Well, you don't. Through selling stock (which the government owns) and taking from Peter to pay Paul, GM simply made the appearance of paying off a loan. Now doesn't that just make you want to run out and buy a Pontiac? Heck I'd even buy a Pontiac if I can pay it off using General Motors accounting.

Even though I didn't approve of the bailout which is essentially a bailout of unions and a perversion of Capitalism, I was still rooting for GM to succeed but this taste in my mouth just won't go away. On second thought, you can keep the Pontiac.

Eco-millionaire Al Gore seems to be exempt from Obama's promised/threatened cap on success.  The Nobel Laureate has taken out his check book again to the tune of nine million dollars. Seems being green pays for this lucky chap. How come the media hasn't reported this? Looks like when he reached into his pocket to get his check book MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC and plenty others fell out.

Now is his new house run by discarded coconuts and pedal bike power? And the glare of that California sun off of those solar panels is almost blinding.

Take heart tonight knowing that when you're sorting your plastics from your tin cans, Mr. Gore will be doing the same. Well, kinda.

The left wing euphoria was palpable in the blogosphere when rampant speculation of the identity of the Times Square Bomber was heating up. Was he a right wing militia? Maybe he's a Tea Partier out for revenge? The air was let out of their tires when authorities captured Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani-born U.S. citizen with strong ties to his homeland. Say it isn't so Joe! MSNBC's Contessa Brewer summed it up best "I get frustrated...there was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic Country." Jan Brewer the Governor or Arizona was on Gretta Van Susteren's how recently, Gretta asked the Governor is Arizona feels abandoned by national leaders where Jan responded "We do Gretta, we have been fighting this issue, this problem that's been facing Arizona probably for the last 15 years and now since I've been Governor since last January I have written numerous letters to the Administration in regards to securing our borders with absolutely no response. It's devastating to the people of Arizona and I feel as Governor I have a responsibility to protect the citizens. We've been inundated with criminal activity that has been outrageous." Now remember a short time ago when Obama, who must have been looking at poll numbers as they kept dropping, declared he would have a laser like focus on jobs? Hmm...He then went back on his usual campaign trail to sell Obamacare and it hasn't really been talked about again. I wonder if Arizona would be in such dire straights if the administration would again collect this laser like focus and point it at protecting the people they swore to protect instead of just mocking the good citizens of that state? Remember, recent polling shows that seventy percent of the people or Arizona want this new law passed.

What are Progressive progressing to I ask? They used to be called Liberals but nobody wants to be called a Liberal anymore. At least with Conservatives whether you love 'em or hate 'em you know where they stand. Sure Progressives will tell you "Change" is the cornerstone of their ideology but change for the sake of change just can't be a basis for the movement. Recent history has showed that Germany and Russia changed in the early part of the twentieth century. C'mon Progressives, put your cards on the table and show us what you've got!

Did anybody notice that Obama never mentioned the Gulf Coast oil spill in his weekly address? Not once. Of course campaign finance reform was top and center. It kind of makes you wonder where his priorities are doesn't it? I guess if you're Obama you never have to be on the defensive when the media is in your corner. Yes that sounds cynical but it had to be said.
